CAM DEAS
CAM DEAS
Cameron Deas is an experimental musician based in London. He is currently working with electronics, he uses an integrated array of synthesis techniques that are triggered by, and in turn manipulate, external acoustic sound sources, in and out of conjunction with pure electronic sounds. Working in an entirely live environment, Deas creates a kind of real-time musique concrete, resulting in an abstract yet organic contemporary electronic music. Also known for his work as a guitarist, Deas’s debut LP for this project, String Studies, is a suite that focuses on using the 12 string acoustic guitar as the sole sound source of this live musique concrete: a wooden frame to an electronic music. String Studies will be released this summer on Alter.
Active since 2007, he has performed over 200 concerts internationally, collaborating with the likes of Chie Mukai, Steffen Basho-Junghans, Ignatz, C Joynes, Jack Allett, Chuck Johnson and various members of Sunburned Hand of the Man and performing alongside artists as diverse as Jandek, Shackleton, Jack Rose, Alasdair Roberts, Luke Fowler/Richard Youngs, Jozef Van Wissem, Skullflower, Bill Kouligas, Helm, Lucky Dragons, Mats Gustafsson, Ryan Francesconi, Sun Araw, Wooden Wand, Tim Hecker and countless others.
He has released 3 full length solo LPs, 2 collaborative LPs, and various other solo, split and collaborative 12″, 7″, CDs and cassettes.

“…the notes of his 12 string acoustic are raw material for violent sculpture, torn apart and flung about separately by the manipulations of his modular synth, bouncing around the space in a hyper-kinetic match of sound squash.” The Wire, April 2014

GALM QUARTET

Galm Quartet is an international improvising ensemble consisting of saxophones, baritone guitar, no-input mixer and drums. Their music is defined by its contradictions, rife with both rapid changes and gradual long form development. In energetic live performances, the quartet straddles the fine line between Erik Satie and the Sex Pistols with a both provocative and genuinely sentimental alchemy.

Galm Quartet is:
Michael Foster (US) on Saxophones
Andreas Fulgosi (IT) on baritone guitar
George Hadow (UK) on drums
Laurens van der Wee (NL) on no-input mixer
